A mobile safari involves traveling between different locations, where the camp staff will set up the camp in the wilderness, and exploring diverse ecosystems. It provides an immersive and flexible safari experience, allowing you to experience different landscapes and wildlife. Expect to see a variety of animals including elephants, lions, leopards, hippos, zebras, antelopes, and numerous bird species. Mobile safaris are safe when conducted with experienced guides and operators. Our guides are trained to handle wildlife encounters and ensure guest safety. Safety briefings are provided at the start of each safari trip. For our scheduled departures, we have a minimum age of 12 years to ensure the comfort of all guests. However, children of all ages are accepted on tailor-made private mobile safaris and can offer a family tent that sleeps four people.
Accommodation on a mobile safari is in comfortable tents with basic amenities. Camps are set up in scenic locations, offering an authentic bush experience. Expect comfortable beds, private ensuite bathrooms with bucket showers and long drop toilets, and excellent camp cuisine. Dietary requirements can usually be accommodated with prior notice. Please inform us of any specific needs when booking your safari.
Costs include accommodation, meals, guided safari activities, park fees, and transfers within the safari itinerary. Additional costs may include flights, personal expenses, and gratuities. Mobile safaris can involve some physical activity, such as walking and moving between camps. A moderate level of fitness is recommended.
If you are flying with Air Botswana, you are allowed 20kg for your main luggage and 7kg for carry-on. For safaris that include any charter flights, such as Northern Highlights and Miracle Rivers during peak and shoulder seasons, you are restricted to 20kg in total. This must be packed in soft luggage as the planes used are small charter planes that are heavily regulated. If you exceed the restricted amount, you may be asked to leave items behind with the operator if the safari starts in Maun. If you wish to bring extra luggage, you can purchase an additional seat, but please advise us when confirming your booking.
The safari vehicles are spacious and comfortable, accommodating a maximum of 9 guests. All vehicles are fitted with inverters and strip plugs, allowing guests to charge batteries while on safari using the AC charger that came with your appliance. For guests who need to purchase adapters, Botswana uses the Old British 3 Pin Type M plug (same as South Africa). These inverters are for necessary items such as camera batteries only; please avoid bringing items that require long charging times, such as electric toothbrushes. The seats are arranged in a three-seat-per-row configuration. Additionally, there will be a fridge on the vehicle to ensure cold drinks are available to guests at all times during game drives.
